My name is Gina Song, and I’m one of the co-tournament directors this year for NU Science Olympiad. I attended Mounds View High School in Minnesota, where I first became involved in Science Olympiad. This club enabled me to explore the different areas of science, compete in demanding but fun environments, and build a community with my peers. Now, as a senior studying biology and psychology with a minor in chemistry, I hope to provide younger students the same opportunities I had to investigate the sciences, compete in STEM events, and make valuable memories. Thank you for your support!
My name is Neil Chen, and I’m the treasurer for NU SciOly. I’m from Pasadena, California, and I’m a sophomore studying biology and psychology. I was the build captain of my high school Science Olympiad club, where I learned so much from competing in and teaching various build events. I had a lot of fun working with my team to engineer vehicles, bridges, and other contraptions for tournaments. Some of my favorite memories came from designing builds, overcoming obstacles during construction, and testing the builds in competition. I want other young aspiring scientists and engineers to have the opportunity to challenge their creativity, compete with others, and overall, have a meaningful Science Olympiad experience. Outside of classes, I enjoy playing basketball, running, and fishing. Thank you so much for your support!
