Jonathan is a student at Northwestern studying chemical engineering also pursuing the Kellogg Certificate for Managerial Analytics. Jonathan has researched at Northwestern every year since his freshman year, starting in a physics lab working on mesoscopic materials, moving to a chemistry lab to build nanoparticles for imaging inflammation using MRI, and is now in the Rogers lab where he builds devices for targeting radiation therapy. His interest in ChemE Cube stems from his love of chemistry and his desire to learn as much as he can about engineering methods. Jonathan is interested in nuclear energy, pharmaceuticals, and intellectual property. He loves to teach science and provide guidance, which he does as a tutor, TA, PA, and volunteer.

Alex is a junior studying chemical engineering at Northwestern University. His current research focuses on synthetic biology, and he is a DeFeo Family Undergraduate Research Fellow in the field. He has worked on RNA-based control systems for next-generation vaccines, designing and testing aptazyme-regulated gene circuits to improve safety and performance. He has also conducted research in reaction engineering for carbon capture, studying epoxide ring-opening pathways and optimizing reaction kinetics and selectivity. Outside the lab, Alex supports the ChemE community as a teaching assistant for the introductory chemical engineering course for first-year students. He is interested in understanding the progression of complex diseases such as cancer, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease in order to design preventative, science-based interventions that combine lifestyle changes with safer, more effective therapies.
