2026-27 NU Formula Racing

Northwestern Formula Racing (NFR) has become a top competitor in the yearly Formula SAE Electric competition. Over the past four years of racing electric vehicles, we’ve seen major growth in our engineering skills and competitive success. We’ve gone from an undrivable car that placed 64th out of 83 teams, to achieving our highest placing ever at 22nd overall while also completing the Endurance Event for the 2nd time in our team’s 20-year history.

Our goal for this year’s car, NFR27, is to further this momentum and finish the Endurance Event faster than ever before, and we need your help to do it!

🏁 Our Team

NFR consists of 60+ students from diverse backgrounds, all committed to applying their world-class education to a challenging, interdisciplinary project. Working across eight subteams—aerodynamics, chassis, data acquisition, high voltage electronics, low voltage electronics, suspension, tractive battery, and operations—our members gain valuable experience that can’t be learned in a classroom.
