About

The Purple Crayon Players are thrilled to present a production of Disney and Pixar’s Finding Nemo: A 60-Minute Family Musical at Norris University Center this fall! Based on the popular Disney and Pixar film, Finding Nemo: A 60-Minute Family Musical helps show children the importance of bravery, acceptance, curiosity, and imagination all through theatrical storytelling. Our version is completely designed, crafted, and acted by Northwestern undergraduates.

For over 20 years, the Purple Crayon Players has committed to creating high-quality productions, events, and educational materials regarding all aspects of theater for young audiences. Each production echoes the belief that audiences of all ages can appreciate, be inspired by, and grow through exposure to this unique art form. Through this mission, Purple Crayon Players is excited to present Finding Nemo, a family-friendly musical with themes surrounding bravery, family, and adventure. This show follows Marlin, an anxious and overprotective clownfish who lives in the Great Barrier Reef with his kid Nemo. When Nemo is captured and taken to Sydney, Marlin faces his fears and sets off on an epic odyssey across the ocean. With the help of lovable characters such as optimistic Dory, laid-back sea turtle Crush, and the supportive Tank Gang, Marlin and Nemo both overcome challenges on their journey to find each other and themselves. Our hope is that children of the Evanston and Chicagoland community, as well as Northwestern students, have access to entertainment built specifically toward their emotional, psychological, and educational needs.

However, this production would not be possible without contributions from the local community, which is where you come in! Please consider donating to this Catalyzer page to help support our production costs. The Purple Crayon Players’ season is completely student-run and produced, meaning your donations will go directly to supporting the show. If you cannot donate, please consider sharing this page with friends and family.

Our Catalyzer is officially live!

Thank you so much to those of you who have already donated; we greatly appreciate your support. The Purple Crayon Players would not be able to continue bringing the theatre to local young audiences without your contributions.
