About

ChemE Cube is a club dedicated to participating in the annual competition that takes place at the conference for American Institute of Chemical Engineers. This is a relatively new organization with many members excited about building a reactor and improving their engineering skills. The competition involves designing and constructing a one-cubic-foot reactor that completes a societally beneficial chemical process. This year, we are building a direct-air capture (DAC) cube that removes CO₂ from the atmosphere and couples the technology to a business and financial model. ChemE Cube uniquely combines technical design, experimental validation, and commercialization planning, which prepares participants for industry and research roles by developing technical proficiency and leadership skills.

The benefits and services provided by Northwestern University’s student groups are available to all students without regard to any category protected by the law. The University believes different perspectives, experiences and backgrounds are critical to a dynamic and vibrant University community, and as such all students are welcome and encouraged to join each group. Any student interested in exploring establishing a new affinity group should contact SOA.

Raising Our Goal

Thank you all immensely for your initial support! With 20 days left in our campaign, we have decided to raise our goal. Your generosity will allow us to represent Northwestern’s engineers in the best way possible and your continued support is appreciated not only for any remaining expenses on this year’s project, but on the legacy of ChemE Cube. Thank you so much!

ChemE Cube has just launched our fundraiser!

Help us build our Carbon Capturing Cube! We are excited to get building. We look forward to performing chemical reactions, modeling designs, and building the reactor not just to improve the health of the planet, but to show everyone what a team of Northwestern engineers can do. No contribution is too small, and certainly none is too large. Thank you!
